Insight into the Influence of the Integrated Chitosan on the Adsorption Properties of Chitosan/Al-MCM-41 Composite for As (V) Metal Ions: Characterization and Advanced Equilibrium Studies

Ecofriendly chitosan/Al-MCM-48 (CH/Al-MCM) was synthesized from natural microcline and assessed as a potential adsorbent of As (V) ions with enhanced capacity. The adsorption properties CH/Al-MCM were in comparison Al-MCM-41 single phase. studied exhibits 178.6 mg/g capacity which is higher than (124 mg/g). illustrated based on the pseudo-first-order kinetic, Langmuir isotherm, monolayer model one energy site. Based recognized steric parameters, displays significant enhancement active sites density (Nm = 88.8 (20°C)) compared to Al-MCM 61.5 This signifies role chitosan integration process enhancing by increasing availability present sites. number adsorbed arsenic (2.01 2.66) suggests uptake 2 or 3 per free site multi-ionic physical mechanism considering (−16.3 −16.9 kJ/mol). thermodynamic functions entropy, internal energy, enthalpy reflect spontaneous exothermic system CH/Al-MCM. Moreover, composite existence other dissolved ions.
